Last night we saw Kirk line up for goal then pass off to Monty to kick the obligatory point. I thought that I'd give Monty, Jude and Kirk about equal chances of kicking true from the 50 - about 25%, though the stats may say that's pessimism.

When was the amazing Shneiderman of his first season kidnapped and replaced by someone who can find ever-more creative ways of missing goals? I watch other teams and see incredible snaps for goals - even the Roos! Then I watch us miss unless it's Magic or Nick kicking. I presume the players become as depressed as we do at setting up clever plays only to be rewarded by - a point.

I'd say his knee affected his kicking

If Kirk could kick more than 30 metres he'd have been right - but that's what you get from a shut down midfield. Kirk did well to egt to where he did and create a chance, but it is the major problem with our midfield. Great, go and get the ball but you have to be able to do something with it when you get it.

My error - my mind was thinking Schneider as my fingers were typing Monty. I've become immune to Monty missing shots on goal but thinking back to the sharpshooter that Schneider was, but is no longer, is really disappointing.

In the context of some of the other misses for goal we've seen recently, Schneider's yesterday was far from the worst. He was a fair way out, had to get boot onto ball very quickly and didn't miss by much (since it hit the post). Jude's miss in the first quarter was the one that annoyed me the most, particularly since we were desparate for any scoreboard pressure in our favour at that point in the game.

The Kangas missed some far simpler shots (eg Simpson) that maybe kept the Swans in with a chance longer than they should have done, though that was slightly balanced by a couple of slightly arsey goals too.

I had tolaugh when a little old lady sitting behind us leant forward after one roos goal and whispered to me, "They call that kicking it out of your arse!"
